I'm back!!

After an incredibly long time away I am finally back. Last June my husband and I were robbed and our laptops were stollen. Sadly Apple computers are expensive and it just was not in the budget. But now I am back and better than ever.

We added another furry member to our family, a black and white kitty named Charlee. She is almost 5 years old and has the funniest smushed face ever. We also moved apartments, got new cars, and I started a new job.

I hope to keep up with this more and post more reviews, recipes, and just everyday stuff as well as photos and videos.

Until next time,

Katie

Influenster Spring Beauty Voxbox Reviews

A few weeks ago I received another Voxbox from Influenster and was super excited to start testing the awesome products. I received the Sheer Cover duo concealer in light, Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist on Paris Amour, Chapstick LipShield365, Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Frock Star, Aveno Daily Moisture body wash, Dr Scholls for her, and a SoyJoy bar in blueberry. Whew, man that's alot of stuff! So it's taken me a while to fully test everything.

First let's start with the Sheer Cover concealer. I loved that there is one shade that is more pink and one that is more yellow. I can mix them to make my perfect shade! While it didn't cover my dark circles as well as I had hoped it did last all day and was great to throw in my wristlet for touch ups. Overall I'd say a 4 out of 5!

So next is the Bath & Body works spray and let me tell you I am addicted to this stuff! This one reminds me of mixing Sweet Pea with Victoria Secret Love Spell. My husband loves that it is sweet but not sickening and that it lasts all day! That one is a definite 5 out of 5 and I've already bought more!

The Chapstick LipShield is a great summer product for people like me who forget sunblock all the time. It feels really soothing on my dry lips and doesn't smell like sunblock at all but has a nice citrus smell. Only bad thing is that it gets soft very quickly. I broke mine the first week. I'd say 4 out of 5 on this one.

Now onto my favorite! I adore the Sally Hansen nail strips. I've used them for over a year and have about 4 boxes on hand right now! I always get compliments on them and for less than the price of a manicure I grab them every time I'm at the store. Definite 5 out of 5 for these babies!

Now the next two products I did not try myself. I had my husband use the Aveeno since he has dry skin and he said it lathered well and didn't smell girly so he give it 4 out of 5. The Dr Scholls for her I gave to a friend since I never wear heels. She said they were a bit awkward at first but did make wearing heels much more comfortable. She gave them a 4 out of 5.

Last is the SoyJoy bar that my husband snatched out of my box and devoured. He said it tasted just like a blueberry muffin! I went out and bought a few to try and love the strawberry the most. These are a great quick snack or on the go breakfast. A 5 out of 5 that I will be buying more of!

Overall this box was great and I'm glad I got to try everything. Below are photos. I would recommend that everyone try these products!

imPRESS Press-On Manicure Review

Last month I recieved another VoxBox from Influenster and in it was the Broadway Nails imPRESS manicure. I had really high hopes for this product going in and was sadly disappointed. I have normal rounded nail beds and usually only have to file one or two artificial nails to have them fit perfect. I could not file these because they were super thin and flexible. I did like the way the felt on my nails because of that though. Also, the glue was not strong enough on every nail. Some stuck great and gave me trouble taking them off while others popped right off when I pet my dog. They lasted me less than an hour. :(

I would be willing to give them another chance. The whole point of Influenster is to review products to help the companies so hopefully they take note. The pluses of the product are the packaging is super cute and at $5.99 for solids and $7.99 for prints they are way more affordable than those Sally Hansen strips everyone loved last summer. They can be found at Wal-Mart and K-Mart for sure but to find more retailers or to check out the colors visit www.impressmanicure.com

My Mentos Pure Fresh Moment Contest

August 12, 2011 was the absolute best day of my life but also one of the craziest. I married the love of my life in a small private ceremony back home in Texas. That morning was spent building the arch we would stand under for the ceremony, decorating chairs, decorating tables, and running all over town picking up my flowers and cake. It took all day and ended up being longer than planned. That meant I had less than an hour to get ready for my wedding. Luckily I had packed a bag the night before to leave in the car with some emergency items like clear nail polish, a safety pin, lotion, and the best thing I packed in there was the Mentos Pure gum in Fresh Mint. I was so rushed that I had forgotten to brush my teeth right before I left and that was my life saver! I popped one in my mouth right before I walked down the aisle to kiss my lovely prince. Mentos gum saved the day!

If you haven't given it a try already be sure to grab it next time you're out. Also, check out their cool website.  www.mentos.com

Vitabath Review My new favorite body wash!

When I got my VoxBox in the mail a few weeks ago from Influenster I was  amazed to see a full size bottle of Vitabath Pomegranate and Blood Orange body wash from their new Fragrance Collection. If you love citrus like me than this is the perfect scent for you. I had seen their stuff at Ulta but for some reason never bothered to pick it up and smell it. If I had I am sure I would have bought every single one right on the spot. It lathers up amazingly in my shower pouf and I only use about a dime sized amount. My husband even loves the smell since it's not too girly. I can't wait to finish this bottle so I can get more. I have my eyes set on the Wild Cherry one.. or maybe the Green Apple and Lily.. so many tough choices. If your not a Fruit Fanatic they also have 3 other lines: Cupcake Couture for those that like bakery sweet smells, Spa Day which is nice relaxing clean smells, or In Bloom which is flirty floral scents. Whichever you pick I can guarantee you will love it! Also, they are sulfate and paraben free which is good for me because those seem to break me out. The body wash is 12 oz for about $10 and will last a long time. I am on week 3 and have used maybe 1/3 of the bottle.

Brief information about the product directly from the company: "All of the products in Vitabath’s newest collection of sulfate and paraben free body washes boast a moisturizing formula that leaves skin feeling clean, refreshed and vibrant. Featuring a nourishing blend of Vitamins A, B3, B5, C and E, as well as an antioxidant superfruit blend, the Fragrance Collection moisturizes and revives skin with its rich, luxurious lather."

Proactiv Review- Best ance treatment ever!

A few weeks ago I received my first Voxbox from Influenster and saw the Proactiv 3 Step System inside. Part of me was a bit hesitant to try it and another part was excited. Even though I have oily skin I get very few breakouts and don't usually spend much on face wash even though I know the high end products work way better.

The first step is the Renewing Cleanser. This is my favorite part of this system. I use it every morning in the shower and again in the evening. It removes all of my makeup very gently. It is exfoliating but does not hurt and scratch like some do. Next is the Revitalizing Toner. I apply this only in the morning since it can be drying. I have noticed this clearing up my blackheads and minimizing my pores. It can sting a bit if there are active/open breakouts. Then the last step is the Repairing Treatment. This has replaced my moisturizer. It makes my skin feel incredibly soft and keeps it looking matte throughout the day.

Overall I would say that I love Proactiv and have been telling everyone about it. My skin looks so good that for the first time in years I am comfortable in my skin without layering the heavy duty concealer and full coverage foundation. If you are struggling with acne then Proactiv is way worth the money!

Be sure to check out www.proactiv.com and get started on gorgeous skin!

First post...

Hey y'all! I decided to start this blog for several reasons. The first is that I am involved with a company called Influenster and need a blog to write reviews of products I try for them. I also wanted to be able to blog about things that I am interested in like makeup, nail polish, cooking, pets, etc. It is also a way to keep in touch with my family and be able to show them pictures.

So a little about me... I am from Texas but living in California since that is where my husband is stationed. Right now I am a house wife and focus on cleaning, cooking, and taking care of our two little Chihuahuas. I will be updating randomly so check back often!
